Amber L. Cushing

I am a Lecturer (assistant professor) and Director of Digital Curation Programmes at the School of Information and Communication Studies at University College Dublin, Ireland.  AT UCD ICS, I also serve as Director of the PhD Programme.  My main area of interest is the intersection of personalisation and digital heritage.  I'm interested in the different ways that personal technology is utilised in heritage institutions, personal motivations for engaging with heritage and the overall impact of these issues.  My recent projects include Walk1916 a mobile walking tour of the Easter Rising in Dublin and an exploration of participatory cultural heritage via a case study of the Inspiring Ireland 1916 project.

I hold a PhD from the School of Information and Library Science (SILS) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

In December 2017, I gave a talk at TEDx UCD, which you can see here.
